' Spinna bats it out of the park with this one -- and lands himself a
well-deserved spot in the 21st Century soul stratosphere! We've loved
Spinna's work on remixes and other projects for years -- and although his
Beat Generation album was great, this set is amazingly even better -- a
tremendous illustration of Spinna's wide talents, generous spirit, and long
reach that stretches out to encompass some of the best of the current soul
and hip hop underground! The roster of guest stars might enough be enough
here -- as the album features work by N'Dea Davenport, Phonte, Eric
Roberson, Lizz Fields, Heavy, Free Radikalz, and Tortured Soul -- but the
album's way more than just a "singers with beats" set, as Spinna's presence
is felt throughout. Warm, yet electric -- spacey, yet focused -- a really
tremendous set that more than lives up to its ambitious title! Tracks
include "Current Events", "Intergalactic Soul", "Outta Time", "Back 2 U",
"Computer Love", "Butterfly Girl", "Could It Be Too Soon", "We Can Change
This World", "Final Events", "Bye Bye Bye", "Living My Life", and "Show Us
How You Fly".' (Dusty Groove)

DJ SPINNA
feat. THE FREE RADIKALZ:
Outta Time (Papa)
Combine a swaggering soul vocal (courtesy of
previous Spinna collaborator Delouie) with a
freaky electro bassline, some dreamy spaced-out
keys, and steadily thumping beats, and take your
seat for an intergalactic soul trip, that
fittingly sets up Spinna’s forthcoming
long-player. The Brooklyn native is nothing short
of versatile, in the past experimenting right
across the music cosmos from hip-hop, to
breakbeats, to classic house and garage. “Outta
Time” bears testament to his multi-faceted
musical approach, a track that will have you
thinking ‘Prince in the 21st Century’ on more
than one occasion. (Verdict: BK’s finest keeps
the funk alive!)

DJ Spinna's latest album on BBE's Beat Generation
Series reflects the broad range of his talent,
along with his varied taste in music. ''Here To
There'' is an all encompassing Soul record, but
undeniably Hip Hop throughout. Its sophistication
is a nod to the days when Hip Hop, House, Disco,
Funk and Electro were one and the same. DJ
Spinna's skillful understanding of the boundaries
that separate hip-hop, contemporary soul and
electronic formations gives ''Here To There'' an
unparalleled resonance and a sound wonderfully his
own.
